Kelsey Boyd

Energy and Climate Justice Director

My name is Kelsey Boyd, and I am a Pre-Public Health major in Health Policy and Management at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I was drawn into the A Better Chance/A Better Community (ABC2) organization by a high school friend. She informed me about the opportunities and experiences provided by the ABC2 organization. After hearing about her experience, I just knew I had to become a part of such a great team. I initially began my involvement at the “Party at the Polls” event. At this event, I served as a volunteer, helping many individuals find solutions when faced with difficulties in voting.

Furthermore, my participation in ABC2 led to my leadership position and role as the Director of Energy and Climate Justice. In this role, I take my learnings from the Energy Democracy Leadership Institute (EDLI) to ABC2 through community events and partnerships. Within the EDLI program, we are gaining the necessary skills and support to be community leaders who advocate for the health and safety of communities. We also generate the people’s power to create a just and equal life concerning energy and climatic difficulties by creating policy proposals and community canvassing.
